Hello, Protagonists!
It’s the end of the month… Oops, wait, it’s August 1st already, the beginning of the month! Yikes, where does time go??
Anyway, that means it’s time for a favorite ritual: previewing some of the upcoming book releases I’m excited about—the ones that have caught my eye, tugged at my curiosity, or whispered “You’ll love me.”
Note: I don’t receive affiliate commissions or payment for these mentions. I haven’t read these yet; these are genuine picks based on author love, intriguing premises, or early buzz that feels promising.

More August New Releases!
Even though I have a book coming out, I also want to make sure I continue to shine a light on other books you might love. One can never have too many books, right? Here are some more new releases that I’m looking forward to this month:
L.A. Women by Ella Berman (August 5)
An electrifying novel about the complicated friendship between two ambitious writers and the ultimate artistic betrayal: one writes a book based upon the other’s life, revealing everything. L.A. Women plunges readers into the legendary parties and unparalleled creativity of iconic Laurel Canyon, while exploring the impossible choices women face when ambition collides with intimacy. At what cost does great art emerge? And who pays the price?
Diana Says Yes by Jen Besser and Shana Feste (August 12)
The Dirty Diana podcast (starring Demi Moore) captivated over 2.1 million listeners with its fearless look at female sexuality and emotional intimacy. Adapted into a trilogy of short novels, the story now concludes with Diana Says Yes—a sharp, sexy, and deeply emotional exploration of what it means for a woman to reclaim her desires in midlife.
The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso (August 26)
For fans of The Ministry of Time and The Midnight Library, a sweeping, unforgettable novel following two remarkable women moving between postwar and Cold War-era America and the mysterious time space, a library filled with books containing the memories of those who bore witness to history. The Book of Lost Hours explores time, memory, and what we sacrifice to protect those we love.
We Loved to Run by Stephanie Reents (August 26)
Told from the perspective of the six fastest members of a college cross-country team, We Loved to Run illuminates the intensity of female friendship and desire and the nearly impossible standards young women sometimes set for themselves. With startling honesty and boundless empathy, Stephanie Reents reveals how girls—even those in competition—find ways to love one another and turn feelings of powerlessness into shared strength and self-determination.
In case you missed it, you can RSVP now (it’s free!) for my virtual launch party + origami workshop, where I’ll talk about the behind-the-scenes writing process of The Incredible Kindness of Paper, as well as teach you to make two paper roses inspired by the story.
