The woman is nonnnnn STOP :-) (Hamilton beatboxing)
Very intrigued by Ideal Life!
Similar sentiments, but totally different - one of my favorite books was "Momo" by Michael Ende, about the grey men who come to Improve Your Life with all kinds of time-saving gadgets, but turns out they're stealing everyone's time. The title character's distinguishing characteristic is her ability to really listen to people. A parable for modern life and losing community connection.
I can't wait to read both books! The questions you're exploring in Ideal Life are ones I've asked myself many times. And I love your analogy of a teenager leaving home but still becoming something more. It's going to stick with me now :)
Do you typically allude to your next book during promos for your current one? Like are you hinting at Ideal Life like you did in this post?
I imagine it's a tricky balance between keeping the focus on your new book vs next book.
It's always impossible to trace any singular effect, especially when all the marketing and publicity efforts hit at the same time (e.g., right around Release Week). So I always tell myself to do everything I can within my resources--which includes time and self-care boundaries--and then trust that the book will find its readers. 💛
I loved Kindness and can't wait for Ideal Life. In the space between books, do you take any downtime, or are you always writing? If so, how long do you take?
Evelyn!!! This (the press!) is so great--I've dug into a lot of it...and listened to the on air interviews...FABULOUS JOB!!!!! And your next book sounds terrific. Hugs!
Hi, 👋 Evelyn, Ideal Life sounds really good! I'm really looking forward to reading it. That's great to hear that your book received so much attention and recognition. Kudos! I don't have any questions just yet. I will definitely ask if I think of any. I hope you are basking in all the joy this book has given people (and you get some rest and relaxation!).
Here's my question - do you still manage to work on another book in the main lead up to publication of the first book? I was doing so well at drafting my next book in between rounds of edits with my publisher. But now we're in the last month before Pub Day, and between updating websites, posting about preorders, organizing launch parties, and guesting on podcasts... I seem to have no time to write. (Also, day job, so there's that. )
I've given myself permission to take a few months off, til after Halloween, but I wonder if other authors manage to pull it off.

OMG - Ideal Life sounds so good. Such a good book club book. Send one to Reese!
This media coverage is so impressive. Can you tell if it made a difference in sales?

The watch's power reminds me of "Second Chance" from Miraculous Ladybug 😮
Haven't heard of it, but that's neat!

Ideal Life sounds fascinating! I love your analogy of publishing a book being like raising a child.
This sounds amazing! I love following along. Thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to read, Evelyn! Still savoring the loveliness, the warmth, of The Incredible Kindness of Paper.
You’re on fire! 🔥 Can’t wait for the next one
It's good to see that The Incredible Kindness of Paper is getting the recognition it deserves.
